The chiefs of the AFL-CIO are leading the fight against legislation that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. The measure, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives last week largely along party lines, would require voters to present identification that proves citizenship for federal elections beginning in 2010.
Big Labor’s “poll tax” claims are interesting. They are not telling people that the bill has a provision to pay for the costs of a photo ID if someone cannot afford one. They also claim that there is no proof of there even being a voter fraud problem. More nonsense.
