MDS Boring Employees Give IUOE Union Bosses the Boot by Voting Them Out

Employees with MDS Boring in Houston, Texas are fed up with International Union of Operating Engineers (IUOE) officials. In fact, they all voted unanimously to remove the union. However, IUOE local 450 put up a fight and tried to bring charges up against the workers. Luckily, thanks to Texas’ Right to Work laws and legal aid from the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation, they were able to file a petition with the NLRB to decertify the union. And when the petition came around, 100% of MDS Boring employees signed to decertify the IUOE union.

Now, the workers are free from the union and will no longer be forced to pay union dues.

In The Center Square, National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation President Mark Mix speaks out on the subject:

“Thanks to Texas’s Right to Work law, workers at MDS Boring couldn’t be forced to pay union dues, but they were still forced to accept union bosses’ so-called ‘representation’ at the bargaining table,” National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation President Mark Mix said in a statement.

“It is unfortunate, but not unexpected, that IUOE bosses are now using litigation to block the outcome unanimously favored by the workers they claim to represent.”
