Today the Michigan House of Representatives approved two separate Right to Work measures that had already been adopted by the state Senate. Gov. Rick Snyder is publicly vowing to sign both bills as soon as they reach his desk. Together, they will protect private-sector employees and most public-sector employees (with the unfortunate exceptions of police and firefighters) from being fired for refusal to pay dues or fees to an unwanted union.
Union-label politicians are furious about this move to limit union officials’ special privileges. One Wayne County solon appeared to lose control of himself altogether:
