Arizona Republic’s Robert Robb believes that House passage of the Card Check Forced Unionism scheme, HR 800, could hurt freshman Reps. Mitchell (D-AZ) and Giffords (D-AZ) re-election chances. He called the bill “an empty, tone-deaf political gesture to the unions.”
Noting that Arizona’s congressional delegation split along party lines on the union power grab, Robb believes, “This vote will likely haunt Harry Mitchell and Gabrielle Giffords, who won swing districts last election. Arizona voters tend toward populism, meaning a distrust of all things big – big government, big business and big unions. Come next election, Mitchell and Giffords are likely to hear a lot about their vote to take away a workers’ [sic] right to a secret ballot.”
