Protecting the integrity and validity of the ballot box is the equivalent of imposing a “poll tax” according to Big Labor officials in Washington.
The chiefs of the AFL-CIO are leading the fight against legislation that would require proof of U.S. citizenship to vote in federal elections. The measure, passed by the U.S. House of Representatives last week largely along party lines, would require voters to present identification that proves citizenship for federal elections beginning in 2010.
Big Labor’s “poll tax” claims are interesting. They are not telling people that the bill has a provision to pay for the costs of a photo ID if someone cannot afford one. They also claim that there is no proof of there even being a voter fraud problem. More nonsense.
John Fund, of the Wall Street Journal, has detailed numerous examples of voter fraud in his excellent but alarming book, Stealing Elections: How Voter Fraud Threatens Our Democracy, including numerous reports of illegal aliens and non-citizens voting.
We all know the union hierarchy wants to unionize illegal aliens and now its clear they want them to vote too.

Thanks to the Committee's election-year program, union-label candidates like Sen. Jon Tester (Mont.) are being given a choice: pledge to change course and support Right to Work going forward, or face the potential political consequences.
After union lawyers’ attempt to get the NLRB to block the vote failed, CWA union bosses backed down and departed AT&T workplace rather than face workers’ vote
