Forced Unionism Gets an RNC Platform
While occupying the RNC podium this summer as a self-styled advocate for workers, Sean O’Brien actually has a long track record of bullying workers, union or union free, who stand in his way
The Rhode Island Commission may tighten rules on union officials serving as elected officials in government. The union ‘umbrellas’ are a point of focus in the state.
At this point, in Rhode Island, city or town council members who are union officials and activists cannot vote on agreements with their own bargaining units.
But can they vote on a contract for another employee group that belongs to the same statewide union? Or can a school committee member who teaches in one community vote on the teachers contract in his or her own community?
The Providence Journal reports that the state Ethics Commission is taking a closer look at the issue. Needless to say, the union bosses aren’t happy.
