Groups urge NBC to pull health care ad
Progressive health care reform groups demanded on Thursday that Washington’s NBC television affiliate refuse to air a 30-minute infomercial funded by a conservative group opposed to creating a public insurance plan.
The Service Employees International Union sent a letter to NBC4, arguing that the station has a responsibility to pull the documentary-style commercial paid for by Conservatives for Patients’ Rights. The ad, set to run Sunday after “Meet the Press,” “will be false, deceitful, and a distortion,” the union’s attorney wrote in the letter.
Why is SEIU so adamant about forcing the federal takeover of healthcare? Because, with one flip of a switch, SEIU could become the national union for all federal healthcare workers. SEIU has reorganized itself into a top-down controlled union perfectly suited to work hand-in-glove with Obama as the federal employer. Will this cost nurses and other healthcare workers jobs? Of course it will. But, the millions of new union dues payers far outweigh the millions of jobs that will be lost by a government takeover of the health industry. It is a tremendous net gain for SEIU and the Democrat party that it funds.
