Paying Good Teachers More Is ‘Unfair’??!!
In response to a staffing crisis, the elected Lee County School Board (LCSB) approved an incentive plan to attract and retain teachers for high-need schools and hard-to-fill subject areas.

NJ teachers Jeanette Speck and Susan Fischer are suing the New Jersey Education Association (NJEA) for forcing “escape period” policies on workers. This particular “escape period” is heinous because it only allows 10 days in August when teachers have an opportunity to resign from the union. And, they cannot submit resignations in advance. This scheme does not protect their constitutional rights as expressed in the Foundation’s Supreme Court Janus, and there is no reason to limit time to withdraw membership. The argument is that this goes against the 2018 Janus v. AFSCME ruling that workers cannot be forced to join or forced to remain in a union against their will.
In The Center Square, they quote National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation President Mark Mix:
“With opposition to these schemes growing among public employees, the Supreme Court must quickly take up this issue and clarify that Janus does not permit union bosses to profit from curtailing workers’ constitutional rights.”
Mark Mix, as quoted in The Center Square
